Chelsea insists Mourinho has ‘full support’
Jose Mourinho’s side suffered another defeat on the weekend as Ronald Koeman’s men stunned the reigning league champions by beating them 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues had managed only four points from eight games in 1978-79 and went on to be relegated that season. “I think you should go straight to the players”, he told the press.
Chelsea management feels that Mourinho, former Real Madrid and Inter Milan tactician, has got enough arsenal in his bag to get the club out of the mess, despite a 10-point difference to league leaders Manchester City.
No team in the history of the Premier League has ever managed to finish higher than fifth after such a dismal start and leaves qualification for next season’s Champions League in doubt. So, for me, everything is clear.
“Used his experience” tends to mean “cheated”, “exciting” means “fast as f**k but can’t control his feet” and when a club says the manager has their “full support”, it’s rarely a good sign.
“If the Football Association wants to punish me they can”. I want to carry on, no doubt. The fans didn’t know what was going on. It’s something that, if I do, I do without any intention.
“With the players, I live a situation that is not easy which is that I like them”. But a few of them are really in a hard moment.
The home side doubled its advantage in the 72nd when Ryder Matos headed Marco Borriello’s cross into the bottom right corner, while Torino pulled one back three minutes later when Maxi Lopez converted a penalty after being brought down by Igor Bubnjic. He’s not playing well.
But the Portuguese also fielded questions over his decision making – in particular the move to take Nemanja Matic off in the second half, despite the player only entering the field at the break.
Chelsea’s play has put many to sleep.
Mourinho is in the midst of the worst run of results of his trophy-laden career, but he remains happy with his handling of Chelsea’s miserable season, saying: “I am not afraid, I’m not crying, I’m not desperate”. But we have to keep working.
“We need to show great character and not feel sorry for ourselves”.
Terry said: “We have a big group of players and we have the best manager who we remain behind and we remain together”.
