Chelsea: Malaga snap up Atsu
Ghana and Chelsea winger Christian Atsu held his first training session with Malaga on Tuesday afternoon after joining the Spanish La Liga side on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian chose five Black Stars teammates, four former Porto stars and one Everton player, but snubbed the likes of Eden Hazard and John Terry.
And Chelsea have now announced that Malaga, who are 12th in the table after 21 matches, have seen off the competition to sign Atsu on a temporary basis.
Atsu had his first loan spell at English Premier League side Bournemouth terminated after injuries hampered his progress and was believed to be heading to Levante until Malaga swooped.
Atsu joined Chelsea for £3.5m in 2013 but he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues. “Players who don’t have much of an option to play at Chelsea must get the experience of playing weekly [elsewhere]”.
Atsu, 24, was also on the radar of Levante and confirmed holding negotiations with the club’s manager but he has swerved them to join rivals Malaga after landing in Spain on Monday.
