Chelsea captain John terry has warned Arsenal that their Community Shield victory over the champions will count for nothing once the real action starts in the Premier League this weekend.
Following Sunday’s 0-1 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield preseason friendly, Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has stated that his team was better than Arsenal.
He admitted that Arsenal could win the PL title this season as he brushed off questions about Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger never beating him in 13 previous encounters in the dugout.
“I look to the next match and see a hard match against Swansea. In that perspective, they scored one goal, they deserved to win, congratulations to them”.
“I’m not going to lose one minute of my time to think about transfer window, I have to think about how to get the best out of my players, and that’s what I am doing now”.
“Losing is just frightful in all aspects”, Terry said.
Just 3 days remain for the start of the Premier League season, something that nearly every football fan has been waiting for.
Mourinho said afterwards that it was “not a story”, but the Portuguese insists it is not something he would ever do and also made reference to Wenger pushing him on the touchline last season.
“You could see that my team was really determined not to give a goal away and sometimes the defensive part took over our offensive potential”.
“That’s the mentality I was brought up in, that’s the same from the manager on a daily basis”.
“I lost twice against Tony Pulis”, said Mourinho, after pausing to think. It was a long time ago since the Gunners chose to play a style different than their usual – they didn’t stick to their attractive and offensive game plan, but instead focused on counter-attacks, strong defense, while trying to control the midfield.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says their Wembley success proved they have finally figured out how to defeat their main rivals.
“Now it is their competitive nature and their quality that top teams have to play against”.
The former Atletico Madrid striker was a huge hit in his first season with the Blues but continued to struggle with hamstring problems and they have flared up again.
“They (Chelsea) played a great consistent season last year, we had a great run to the end of the season, and deserved to win the FA Cup“.
