Chelsea’s Cech sale a favour to Gunners: Flamini
Mathieu Flamini believes Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has done Arsenal a “good favour” in selling Petr Cech to the Gunners.
The Czech goalkeeper joined Arsenal this summer after 11 years at Stamford Bridge, much to the surprise of many, including Flamini.
“If you add up the amounts clubs have spent in the last three or four years, I think maybe you will find a surprise”, Mourinho told reporters. “He usually doesn’t like to sell any players to his rivals, but it’s a good favour for us and now we have to take advantage”.
“I think Arsenal’s priority will be to sign a top striker, as a marquee signing can feel like you’ve landed a psychological blow against your opposition”, he said in a fan Q&A on Mail Online. That’s why we have been lucky on this one.
And while Arsenal director Lord Harris has revealed the Gunners have £200million available to spend, Arsene Wenger has yet to dip into his transfer kitty to bring in a that sought-after marquee signing.
“These are players who can make the difference at any moment”.
Premier League champions Chelsea are reportedly ramping up their interest in Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam who is said to be interesting Arsenal, according to Metro.
Arsenal downed Manchester City 3-0 in last season’s Community Shield. Not only when things go well but especially when things go bad. We have kept the same group.
There has already been talk about this possible transfer to Arsenal being done this summer, but it was all quite a while back now and with no mention of it in the papers recently, I assumed that the move for Christophe Lollichon was not going to happen.
“And, each year, we have added quality players like Mesut Oezil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech“. “He is someone with character, someone with a winning mentality”. They deserved to win it past year.
“Roma is a big club, they play in the Champions League, play in a very different championship and that is a big experience for him”.
