Chelsea’s Oriol Romeu Undergoing Southampton Medical
Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is set to end his nightmare spell at Stamford Bridge and is edging closer to joining Premier League side Southampton, after a fee was agreed for his services, according to Jack Pitt-Brooke from the Independent.
Much of that time has been spent out on loan however, with the Barcelona academy graduate returning to Spain with Valencia in 2013, and then heading to Stuttgart one year later. However, it would be surprising if he lined up at center back for Koeman’s men alongside Jose Fonte as Southampton is still said to be interested in Celtic’s Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk. The Spaniard has struggled to cement a regular starting place at Chelsea since his move from Barcelona.
A report claims that Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is travelling to Southampton for a medical ahead of a permanent move to the club.
Saints, who have been looking for another midfield player despite signing Jordy Clasie to replace the departed Morgan Schneiderlin, who joined Manchester United, are expected to announce Romeu’s signing later on Wednesday.
At 23, Romeu has garnered a lot of experience already and he could prove to be a decent signing for Southampton.
