Meanwhile, they have so far been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones, as manager Roberto Martinez is reluctant to sell the 21-year-old.
Marin never managed to establish himself as a Chelsea player despite his marvelous friendly form.
“As a football club these players are going to be a part of our success in the future, so we take [interest] as a positive compliment”.
Stones has been repeatedly linked with a move to Chelsea, however Everton are determined to resist Mourinho’s advances for the 21-year-old.
Chelsea are unwilling to go that high for now and may turn to other options, including Tottenham defender Danny Rose, ahead of the transfer deadline.
Weinzierl, who led Augsburg to fifth place in the Bundesliga last season, said Rahman’s progress was testament to the club’s work.
The Spain global reportedly took the two-day break afforded to the squad by Mourinho after Saturday’s Stamford Bridge stalemate to kick back in Ibiza at an Avicii concert on Sunday night at Ushuaia Ibiza.
