Chelsea starlet Bamford calls halt to ‘terrible’ Palace loan
Chelsea’s Patrick Bamford hasn’t been getting much action this season at Crystal Palace, where he was scheduled to spend the entire 2015/16 season on loan.
Bamford spent last season on loan with Championship side Middlesbrough, finding the net 17 times to become the club’s top scorer.
His goalless nine-game stint with the Eagles now looks at an end, despite manager Alan Pardew insisting Palace were yet to talk to Chelsea on Bamford’s future.
“Strikers will always tell you they need five games”, said Pardew of Bamford’s form, as quoted by The Mirror.
“We’ve probably got to show that attitude at all times because the situation we’re in, it’s not going to go our way unless we pull together”.
“I would have been more happy, or more content, if I had been given a chance and not taken it, but I haven’t started a game in the Prem”, he added.
Late chances for Wilfried Zaha and Patrick Bamford could have earned them all three points, however they were unable to beat Lukasz Fabianski.
“But I can’t be disappointed”.
At the beginning of this season, he moved on a temporary switch to Palace, with the expectation that he would profit from the opportunity to refine his trade in the Premier League.
“The coaches have just found out – I have told them I am going”.
Alan Pardew was forced to make more changes to the lineup after knocks picked up in the game against Bournemouth on Boxing Day. “But I got on well with the gaffer and I like him, and it was just one of those that didn’t work out”.
“But we’ve got 31 points after 18 games: wow. Ideally I want to stay in the Premier League, and there are a few options to stay, so now it is about assessing which is best and we will go from there”.
“The club are in the process of interviewing people, or certainly looking at potential candidates, and I think there is a need to sign someone slightly different”.
“If I can buy the club a bit of time with some results, then great”.
