Chevrolet Colorado Gets Special Edition Models
“These are aggressive editions of one of the country’s hottest-selling truck, demonstrating the personalization that’s possible with Chevrolet accessories, whether it’s for the street, trail or both”, said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. With an all-new diesel engine and an enhanced Trail Boss package for the Z71 (which we’ve driven), the Colorado looks as fresh as ever, but not even Chevy’s new midsize baby is immune to the allure of the paint-and-tape “special edition”.
For the 2015 model year, Chevy offered the Z71 Trail Boss Colorado and a Colorado GearOn special edition that showcased GearOn accessories and features.
One is designed as an urban tuner vehicle, the other an offroad adventurer.
On Monday, the General Motors brand showed off the all-black Midnight Edition Colorado, a mid-size echo of its Midnight Edition Silverado. Chevrolet has now announced the new packages that owners will get to add on. The model is also available with extended and crew cab bodies and in two- or four-wheel drive with the 2.5- or 3.6-liter engines. The Trail Boss package increases the off-road capability of the already-rugged Colorado Z71, which comes standard with a host of chassis shielding and heavy-duty suspension upgrades. Those enhancements include black 17-inch wheels with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec 265/65R 17 all-terrain tires. Dark plastic fender flares give the Trail Boss an aggressive appearance, along with a new bed-mounted sport bar with LED trail lighting. It also features a black bowtie grille emblem and a spray-on bedliner, and a set of all-weather floor mats inside the truck. This package is available on the Z71 model in 2WD or 4WD with all engine options in both cab configurations.
