Chevrolet unveils Beat Activ, Essentia at Auto Expo 2016

The other new model displayed at the Expo from Chevrolet is the Beat based crossover dubbed Activ.

General Motors already sells an entry-level sedan – Chevrolet Sail – in the country, but that failed to meet the company’s expectations. But to keep the cost lower essentia and beat active are based on current generation beat. Now with the Chevrolet Beat Essentia, the company will lure buyers looking for a sedan at an affordable price. Both engines now power the Beat hatchback, and are likely to power the upcoming Beat Essentia compact sedan. The 1.2-litre petrol engine punches out 77bhp and 107Nm of torque, while the 1-litre diesel churns out 56bhp and 142.5Nm of torque. Expected to be the most affordable crossover, the Beat Activ will have no direct rival.

The Beat Activ is a concept that explores the desire among more youthful consumers for a fun, spirited vehicle that reflects their personality while meeting all of the challenges of the sometimes tough Indian environment. It comes equipped with a dual-port grille that accommodates large Chevrolet Bowtie, flanked by sleek headlamps. The new Chevrolet Essentia will take the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the Honda Amaze, the Ford Figo Aspire, the Honda Amaze, the Hyundai Xcent and the Volkswagen Ameo and will be placed in the sub 4-meter compact sedan segment. While the Beat Essentia features an extended boot, the Cross has a sporty and curvy hatch-like tail-gate. At the back, the Cross gets new tailgate and a roof-mounted spoiler.
