Chicago Bears’ Kevin White to undergo surgery for shin injury
Player and team remain hopeful, however, and the plan now is to leave White on the PUP list, meaning he could return after the first six games. And he still might, in much the same way big playmaking receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery have done in recent seasons. For now White will be on PUP doing rehab and studying the offence. “If I can come back and am able to play a little bit in the season, we’ll do it”, White said. “I want to be practicing tomorrow, but it’s not my call”.
The Kevin White drama took a turn for the worse at the worst possible time for the Chicago Bears.
“If it’s this season, then great”, he said. I just have to be honest, because if not, then I’ll hurt myself. “It was kind of like just a throwing-in-the-towel kind of thing”.
The Bears were extremely patient with White since he first injured the shin in OTAs, keeping him from running for eight weeks before he did some work last week.
That’s clearly not going to be the case anymore, as the Bears are in a situation where they’ll be lucky if they see White at all during his rookie campaign.
Shin splints have many different variations of how they occur, and different severities – all of which are generally very painful.
“I like it. I like it a lot”, Cutler said.
“It’s the sport”, he said. “This sport is not going to be all sunshine every day, so you’ve got to roll with the punches”.
White was projected to be an immediate difference maker in the Bears offense. “We’re not doctors and stick to that”. Jeffery on Wednesday suffered a mild calf strain, which will sideline him for roughly one week, a league source told ESPN. I’ve got to follow the rules.
“[It’s] tough. But things happen”, White said. I think Marc (Mariani) did a good job stepping in over there in the slot. The Bears also added to their wide receiver depth on Saturday with the signing of wide receiver Jeremy Kelley. Kelley entered the NFL in 2013 as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts.
