Chicago Bears’ Matt Forte Reportedly On The Trading Block
The Chicago Bears are holding a fire sale, which means random completely baseless rumors are starting to fly. It’s apparent that he has lost the first step he once had and against the run, he is below average. A rebuild takes time, and in this case, the patience to deal with an impatient media and fanbase in a win-now, win-always league. Chicago Bears defeat the Minnesota Vikings 21-13. Will the Bears end the season ranked No. 32?
He’s shifted to play outside linebacker in the Bears’ new 3-4 defense, and hasn’t fared well.
The 29-year-old running back will be looking for his third contract which is expected to be large. So why lose a guy to free agency in the offseason when you can trade him now and get a few future value for his services? For me, trading Forte makes more sense because not only is his stock at an all-time high right now, but he most likely will not be around next season because of his age. Here’s today’s baseless rumor: Matt Forte to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which is based on absolutely zero reports, credible or otherwise.
As much as it hurts, the Bears should look to trade Forte, too.
Enjoy watching Matt Forte while you can Chicago, because one of the best running backs to ever done the orange and blue will likely be wearing another uniform sometime before the month of November. His nine receptions are also a highlight as he’s been one of the best duel-threat backs in the game since his arrival back in 2008. There’s no room or need for Forte.
Forte is having another successful season in Chicago as he’s racked up 276 yards on 59 carries and a touchdown. Getting a mid-to-late round pick from any of these teams would be a huge win for Ryan Pace and this Bears’ front office. Last season, he caught 85 passes for 1,133 yards with a career-best 10 touchdowns. He’s a good young player.
Jeffery’s great performance in 2013 earned him his first and only Pro Bowl selection in a four-year career. Trading Jeffery just creates another need. That is why the possibility of Jeffery coming back is good news for the team.
