Chicago Bulls Will Struggle To Make Playoffs After Trading Derrick Rose
Coming out with a hype video for a new player is something that every National Basketball Association franchise does, but the New York Knicks took things to a new level as they welcomed Derrick Rose to the Big Apple.
Heading into the final year of his current contract, Rose will be attempting to resurrect a once-brilliant career that’s been destroyed by several significant knee injuries.
Rose said he comes to the Knicks “with the mindset of winning”. Now we all know that Howard have a problem with bright light cities i am sure hope that what he did in L.A. will not repeat because if it does it will be a disaster to the whole team. “He know that. His family know that”. He sees that as a positive move.
Rose understands there will be pressure in NY, but he added that he just wants to win. “And I think it’s only going to get better”.
“How does Rose even fit on this team?”. The Knicks project to have at least $30 million in cap space this summer and will have enough money to offer Durant a maximum contract, which starts at $26.4 million in the first season.
“I would like to tell them, ‘Thank you, ‘” Rose said of the Bulls at Friday’s news conference introducing him as the newest member of the Knicks.
Jackson intimated Thursday that the Rose trade gives Anthony confidence about the club’s future.
The Knicks sent center Robin Lopez and guards Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon to Chicago on Wednesday in exchange for guard Justin Holliday, Rose and a 2017 second-round pick.
Rose, 27, is due to hit the free-agent market at the end of next season.
So, what’s it all mean for NY?
While acquiring a player of Rose’s caliber goes a long way with the Knicks’ fan-base, his arrival could also easily stall Porzingus’ on-court growth.
“I felt the need to have a decisive attack guard moving forward and made this choice”, Jackson said. While he was unable to bring a championship that season, his stellar play continued on into the 2011-12 season, as he averaged 21.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 39 games.
