Chicago Could Get 6 To 12 Inches Of Snow This Weekend

But Dankers said that even when the snow tapers off, sustained winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, could create bitterly cold and risky conditions. Here is the timing of that area of low pressure.

The Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office has issued a Winter Storm Watch (blue-shaded area on the map above) for potential heavy snowfall of 6-inches or more west and north of Chicago Friday night into Saturday morning.

Area law enforcement encourages drivers to take extra caution and reduce speeds significantly in the event of any snow on roadways. Thus, snowfall amounts will be lower south.
