Chiefs Defense Stymies Carr and Raiders Offense

Both teams are 10-3, but if they finish with the same record, the Chiefs will own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Raiders because they swept the season series.

The Raiders and Chiefs are such bitter foes that not even a late-season game between losing teams with no hope of a division title or playoff berth would take away the importance of a matchup. His strong play in the first half was undercut so badly by that miserable third quarter that we’re left wondering whether the Chiefs must come up with massive plays each week on special teams and defense – likely without Johnson’s services going forward. He ruptured his right Achilles two years ago and missed the rest of the season. As you should know by now, the only thing automatic relative to the Chiefs and fantasy right now is Travis Kelce (TE1), with three consecutive 100-yard games, and that “D, ‘ No. 2 in scoring among all fantasy units and for the first time this season rolling out a healthy rush tandem of Justin Houston and Dee Ford”. In last week’s win at Atlanta, it scored on a pick-6 and pick-2 (both by Eric Berry) and a 55-yard touchdown run on a fake punt.

The Raiders were not able to take advantage, scoring only on a 33-yard field goal from Sebastian Janikowski. Carr completed only one of his six passing attempts for zero yards in those two drives, the second of which ended with an aborted field goal attempt after a bad snap. Maclin will be back tonight, but we should expect Andy Reid and company to stick to a ground and pound attack that keeps the ball out of the hands of the high octane Raiders offense. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr continued his masterful season, leading his team to 29 unanswered points on 260 yards passing for the day. The Raiders rushed for 135 yards as a team and Latavius Murray finished with 103 yards on 22 carries.

When the 2016 National Football League regular season started, many expected the Denver Broncos, the defending Super Bowl champions, would contend for the AFC West crown.

The weather in Kansas City will be icy and frigid Thursday night as the Raiders and Chiefs face off. If you are not in Kansas watching the match, then don’t be disappointed because there are plenty of options you can choose from to watch, or listen to the game.

The ramifications begin with the division race, where the Chiefs (10-3) forged a tie with Oakland (10-3) at the top. Another PAT kick gave the Chiefs a 14-3 lead. But the Chiefs are right behind them at 9-3, and would seize control of the division with a win, having already gotten the better of the Raiders in an October 16 game in Oakland.

The next time Spencer Ware (RB6) fails to find the end zone vs. the Raiders will be the first.
