Chiefs’ goal-line stand preserves 10-3 victory over Chargers
It was probably Rivers’ best series of the game, but it was too much to ask against the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
The Chargers placed defensive tackle Corey Liuget (foot) and cornerback Brandon Flowers (knee) on injured reserve.
Smith finished the game 15 of 23 for 191 yards with one TD and an interception. With only four games remaining, Kansas City must continue to play with this attitude and can not afford a letdown game if they want to lock up the top wild card spot.
Ford was filling in for Justin Houston and did a hell of an imitation.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews was added to the injury report with a back ailment for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. In the receiving end, Antonio Gates had 50 yards in six catches. Inman went down with a very scary looking neck/head injury, while Stevie Johnson is having problems with his groin. Driving late in the fourth quarter, the Chargers got inside the five-yard line, but Rivers was unable to hook up with Danny Woodhead in the end zone on the final play of the game as time ran off the clock.
The Chiefs are projected to easily win this match against the hapless Chargers.
Alex Smith threw for 191 yards and a touchdown, along with his first interception after a franchise-record 312 attempts.
“It was kind of hot, going in and out of focus, a little bit of dizziness”, Fluker said.
So, what can San Diego look to accomplish other than not embarrass itself as it did just two weeks ago when the teams met in Southern California?
The Chiefs offense will once again be without wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas (concussion) this week.
Offensive lineman Jeff Allen was a limited participant because of an ankle injury and is listed as questionable.
If they again have to make their way in the rain, they’ll probably need to play better than they did against the Chargers in order to win.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs blasted the Oakland Raiders with a come-from-behind 34-20 win at the O.co Coliseum also last Sunday, as per USA Today.
On a wet day built for power football, the Chiefs ran for 150 yards against a Chargers (3-10) defense that entered Sunday’s game at Arrowhead Stadium ranked third-worst in the league with 4.7 yards allowed per carry.
Prediction: Chiefs win, 28-14.
