Chiefs move on in playoffs while Maclin remains in limbo
The Kansas City Chiefs could be in trouble on offense after wide receiver Jeremy Maclin exited Saturday’s AFC Wild Card Game against the Houston Texans with a knee injury.
However, the MRI showed no significant damage to Maclin’s knee, so there is at least a chance Maclin could play next weekend.
Maclin didn’t speak to reporters after the game and Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports he walked out of the locker room with a limp but without crutches.
While Maclin, 27, has not suffered the dreaded ACL tear, a high-ankle sprain will likely keep him out of the Chiefs’ divisional-round playoff game at New England (12-4) on Saturday.
Maclin’s right knee injury comes with greater concern given his injury past – he tore his right ACL in 2013 with the Eagles and in 2009 while at Missouri. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is having a career season in Kansas City leading them to their first playoff win in 22 years, but likely knows Maclin’s presence on the field is a huge factor in the Chiefs’ current success.
Kansas City snapped an eight-game postseason losing streak with its 30-0 victory over the Texans on Saturday.
