The Chiefs have three key players – running back Jamaal Charles, outside linebacker Tamba Hali and safety Eric Berry – who have not played during the preseason but have been practicing.

Considering this success, we can see why the Chiefs are not being too quick to rush the 29-year-old Charles back into action. As much of a star as Charles is, this situation is easily survivable.

While it might have been hopeful to think he’d be ready for the opener, the Chiefs have a deep running back room.
