Chiefs Safety Eric Berry Beats Cancer, Cleared For Training Camp Play
It’s two pieces of good news that could have far-reaching ramifications in the AFC West and NFC West. Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry and St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley have both passed physicals and are clear to participate in training camp.
Nothing much has been said about Berry’s future since his treatments were completed in June.
-Nov. 20: After the Chiefs’ 24-20 loss to the Raiders in a Thursday night game in Oakland, Berry feels a great deal of discomfort in his chest.
Reid said the Chiefs don’t know what caused the cancer, but they were completely making sure his health _ and not necessarily football _ was the priority.

The circumstances notwithstanding, Berry cherishes the time he was able to spend with his family during this process, which is more than he’s had since he was 18 years old.
Berry told his teammates about his lymphoma diagnosis. I mean that, watching Eric Berry play at Tennessee, I actively enjoyed his successes even though I was supposed to root for his, and every other Vol’s, failure.
Burkholder added that Berry, amazingly, continued to work out during chemotherapy _ teammates Travis Kelce and Justin Houston trained with him at some point. Every day I just tried to build off what I did the day before. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Kerrigan, a Muncie native, ranked second in the NFC last season with a career-high 13.5 sacks for the Redskins, who went 4-12 and finished last in their division for the sixth time in seven years. “I was trying to push myself to the limit but I couldn’t push myself how I wanted to”.
“It’s been a roller-coaster”, he said, “but I wouldn’t change it for the world”. There were some tough days for him, this wasnt a breeze, but thats what motivated him..
I have this theory that most of us (possibly secretly) love one college football player who went to a rival school.
He also drew inspiration from Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts and the late ESPN great Stuart Scott. “But like I said, he’s got to go through all the formalities here”. “Your mind goes to ‘Hey, we’re hoping and praying that he can be healthy and live a good life”.
The Kansas City Star update says physicians then examined the mass on the right side of his chest and concluded Berry has lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system. “We are all fans of his in this situation”. The 26-year-old Berry happens to be one of the best run-stopping safeties in the game, a hard hitter who fearlessly crashes the line of scrimmage.
Though it’s unknown how long it will take Eric Berry to return to actual game play, his return to the field for practice is encouraging and inspiring to several members of the NFL, including opponents welcoming Berry back with open arms.
