Child falls from coaster at Pennsylvania amusement park
A child has fallen from a roller coaster at Idlewild and SoakZone in western Pennsylvania, a Westmoreland County emergency dispatcher told the Associated Press.
A 10-year-old boy died on a water slide at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, Kansas, on Sunday.
The director of the Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards for Idlewild, Walter Remmert, said an inspector was at the park during the incident conducting a standard inspection.
Idlewild has two roller coasters – the Rollo Coaster, with a height requirement of 36 inches, and the Wild Mouse, which has a 48-inch requirement, according to WTAE.
It was not immediately clear which ride the accident was on.
“I actually have an inspector on site or about to be on site”, Mr. Remmert said.
The boy was airlifted from the park.

Emergency dispatchers said the accident happened about noon, and a medical helicopter was called to the park.
It is the third major incident at a US amusement park in four days.
The Kansas water slide passed inspection two months ago, according to state records.
On Monday, three children fell 35 feet from a Ferris wheel when their basket overturned at the Greene County Fair in Greenville, Tenn.
