Children Injured After Ride Tips
12 people were injured after a swing ride from the Beech Bend Park from Kentucky literally tipped over, due to some sort of error or malfunction.
Warren County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Stephen Harmon couldn’t confirm the ages, but he said the accident is being investigated.
Amusement parks are places where people put their limits to the test all the time, precisely because they know that the rides are ultimately safe.
Officials with Beech Bend Park could not immediately be reached to comment on Sunday.
Vince Willingham, interim chief for the Warren County Rescue Department, was at the amusement park with his wife and 3-year-old child when the incident occurred. Ages of riders have not been disclosed, but witnesses say that some of the injured were children. Willingham said that he heard a bunch of crashing but didn’t realize what had happened until the ride came to a stop completely turned on its side.
The ride has been set to be inspected to determine what malfunctioned, but officials said uneven weight distribution could have been a factor.
