Kolkata: In a bid to further the Sino-Bengal bilateral ties, China has expressed eagerness to invest in West Bengal.
He said that the two countries are working hard to strengthen traditional friendship, increase mutual trust, make breakthroughs in economic cooperation, trade, infrastructure construction, industrial parks and tourism.
Banerjee said that she had also invited the Chinese commerce and investment Minster and the business delegation to attend the upcoming Biswa Bangla Business Summit. “We contribute 90 per cent and the Centre 10 per cent”, the Chief Minister said.
Banerjee also expressed keenness to collaborate with China in infrastructure, tourism, educational and cultural exchanges and setting up of a manufacturing hub.
Li said that West Bengal, which is showing good momentum of fast development, is geographically close to China and its capital Kolkata has many ethnic Chinese people.
There are inadequate funds for developmental projects in Jangalmahal and the hills or the police, Mamata said, adding, “we are paying from the state coffers to run those schemes”.
State Finance Minister Amit Mitra said the Chinese delegation told him that they had conducted a survey which revealed that Banerjee was the most honest politician in India.
Earlier in the day, Li visited Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral house at Jorasanko, which is now part of the Rabindra Bharati university campus.
He made the statement during his separate meetings here with West Bengal State Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
