China Mobile expecting 4-inch ‘iPhone 7c’ in April 2016
The notion that Apple will release an “iPhone 6c/7c” gained steam this week after China Mobile included an iPhone release during a corporate presentation. Earlier reports had indicated that Apple will name the upcoming 4 inch iPhone, an iPhone 6c. “9to5Mac&txt=Chinese website “MyDrivers”>MyDrivers (via 9to5Mac) has become privy to the China Mobile product roadmap for 2016, which explicitly references a new Apple product. It is still unclear if Apple wants to call the 4 inch iPhone a iPhone 6C or the iPhone 7C.
Several rumors and reports have suggested that the iPhone 6C will be launched in Q1 2016, which lines up perfectly with this report. Instead, most observers thing Apple would release an iPhone 6c. China Mobile recently held a press conference (the same event that ousted the Samsung Galaxy S7’s release date for March 2016) and during the event, they shared a slide of their roadmap for 2016 and according to the slide, it suggested that we can expect the iPhone 6c/7c to be launched in April 2016. In addition, it will most likely be offered in gold, silver and black color variants. iPhone 7C is also said to offer Touch ID function, but the screen does not support pressure sensitivity. It will feature an all metal design, a faster A9 processor and 2GB of RAM, but lack the 3D touch display that’s used in the iPhone 6s. Perhaps someone at China Mobile was told about Apple’s 2016 line-up.
Looks like the iPhone 6c will hit the shelves in April 2016, probably after an announcement in March.
Besides a new iPhone, the company is also planning to pull the covers off the Apple Watch 2.
