China Sea Should Firm Indonesia’s Resolve: Lawmaker
China said on Thursday it had issued a formal protest after Australia announced it would continue to exercise its right to freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea following a court ruling against China’s claims. “Peaceful talks”, Efe news quoted Duterte as saying.
Since previous year it has also conducted three “freedom of navigation” patrols in the region, sending war ships within 12 nautical miles of artificial islands built by Beijing in the South China Sea to signal that Washington does not accept China’s territorial claims.
“China will continue to safeguard territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea, and endeavour to peacefully resolve relevant disputes in the South China Sea with parties directly concerned through negotiation and consultation on the basis of respecting historical facts and in accordance with worldwide law”.
He added that such futile attempts will never work as the arbitration tribunal runs counter to the spirit of worldwide rule of law, puts regional peace and stability in jeopardy, and undermines the interests of the global community, reports Xinhua. Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines jets also landed on an airport in fake Chinese island built over Zamora (Subi) reef.
China had set up an ADIZ over the East China Sea in 2013, prompting angry reactions from the United States of America and Japan, though the zone was not fully enforced.Beijing has said it would not acknowledge or accept the ruling.
The most common behavior, reported by roughly half of all drivers, was purposely tailgating another vehicle.
On July 12, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ruled that China’s claims over most of the South China Sea had no legal basis in a case brought by the Philippines. The witness said he only got a glimpse of one person, the driver, in the cab of the truck.
China has said that the South China Sea arbitration has been a political farce all along, staged under the cover of law and driven by a hidden agenda.
