Chinese auto market will see “substantial growth” in long term — GM CEO
Like the exterior, the Avista’s 2+2 interior is defined by flowing, uninterrupted lines conveying elegance through simplicity – with intense technical and surfaces details, in everything from 3D-printed door and seat trim to a future vision of Buick’s IntelliLink, with touchscreen controls on a widescreen instrument panel display.
Automakers will debut around 45 new production vehicles and experimental concept cars during the North American International Auto Show. That sentiment isn’t present in China, where Buick sales are high-nearly a million previous year, compared to 223,000 in the U.S.-and production is cheap. Without a complete roster of crossovers, Buick has not fully capitalized on surging demand for crossovers.
The Envision should have little trouble gaining traction.
Last year, they proved it even more with the drop-dead gorgeous rear-wheel drive-based Avenir Concept.
Buick also unveiled the Envision midsize crossover tonight, a vehicle that it will produce at a joint venture plant in China. One reason is that the brand had just two SUVs to offer in a market where passenger cars are getting less love. Pricing information will be announced in the weeks leading up to its on-sale date.
GM has come a long way since it first tried importing vehicles from a developing nation – Mexico – decades ago and it has systems in place to ensure that the Chinese-built Envision matches both USA and global standards, Shaiken said.
“We’ve seen this in the auto industry going back to cars from Japan and Korea”.
What will strike people most is the car’s design. “I think this is absolutely right-on for the brand”. Buick had already promised that its new mid-size SUV Envision would break cover in Detroit.
The concept fits the company’s current advertising campaign, as its “That’s A Buick?” approach attempts to facelift the USA perception that Buicks are for old folks.
But I doubt prospective Opel volumes would be enough to make General Motors’ bean counters’ eyes light up. Buick retail deliveries there were up 12% in 2015. Looking ahead, some uncertainty has reappeared amid market turmoil in the country. “It’s a very intriguing declaration of where the Buick brand is today”. Cadillac sales grew 2.6%.
Buick has pulled the wraps off a new concept called the Avista at the Detroit motor show.
The Avista features some design elements reminiscent of the Bentley Continental GT with its wide hips and waterfall grille.
