Chip Kelly admits play-calling isn’t working for Eagles offense

Based on the storm’s current trajectory and the lifting by Governor (Larry) Hogan of the state of emergency in eight Maryland counties, including Montgomery and Prince George’s County (where FedEx Field is located), we expect to play Sunday’s Philadelphia at Washington game as scheduled on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

We can all see the Eagles aren’t getting the job done.

The 2015 season offers a very small sample size. He did that against Philadelphia. The Eagles haven’t gotten blown out in their three losses, just outplayed for most of the time, and it’s not as if there’s nothing to be pleased about.

The Eagles running game is pathetic.

Bradford did make a few lovely deep throws though. That’s been a recipe for disaster in the past.

“He was Kirk. Nothing changed about him”. Again without DeSean Jackson, he still managed a 91.8 rating with 31 completions on 46 throws. Ross’ only catch went for 43 yards.

Cousins still has more interceptions (23) than touchdown passes (22) as a pro. He is a North and South runner and you have him going laterally. But in the second half he played a great game when he gained confidence and started throwing the ball downfield. Cousins was cooler than Prince, Morris Day and The Time on that drive. Matt Jones struggled mightily only rushing for 11 yards on 7 carries.

Counting playoff games, Sproles’ teams are 12-2 when he scores twice or more. It doesn’t help that Philadelphia entered the game with an atrocious pass offense ranking among the worst in the league.

The Jets were about as stale as can be, on both sides of the ball Sunday. Washington is crippled at cornerback with only Bashaud Breeland healthy among the expected top four corners entering camp.

Safety Trenton Robinson had three tackles for Washington. The Redskins don’t have a road win and tough trips to New England, Atlanta and Dallas are ahead. Terrance Knighton in the middle is a force at nose. Jarrett’s emergence as a key defensive cog is rather unlikely and he has held his own with a Redskins rookie class that looks increasingly central to the success of the team. He sat out one game because of a hamstring injury. All season long, they’ve had their backs against the wall as a result of inconsistent or downright inept offensive performances, yet-at least in terms of the scoreboard-this team has been in every game.

Redskins kicker Dustin Hopkins went 3 for 3 on field-goal tries, making from 20, 33 and 38 yards. He did not return and his status for this week is uncertain. He missed his extra point slightly more than 3 minutes into the second half. “It’s what you work for, it’s what you look forward to, and to finally do it the right way – get a touchdown at the end of the game to win the game – it’s definitely how you dream of it, and for it to come true, it’s a dream come true”. Washington got back to its identity: Pounding the ball early behind an improved offensive line and relying on its kicking game to generate an early lead and put Cousins in position to succeed. The injury to CB DeAngelo Hall and the continuing awfulness of CB David Amerson [since released] has forced the Skins to rely heavily on Jarrett’s contributions in the secondary. So he unleashed the pass rush. The front seven is not getting a lot of pressure and especially not a lot sacks.
