Chip Kelly on college rumors: ‘I’m totally committed’ to the Eagles

We know that USC isn’t hiring Chip Kelly to be its football coach, and Kelly said Monday that he never was going to be. In accordance to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Titans might be an choice for Kelly, while the USC Trojans previously showed interest, though in that isn’t an choice now with Clay Helton keeping the job. But even before the season began to spiral out of control – the Eagles have lost three straight games and have been outscored 90-31 in their last two – Kelly’s name has been linked to just about every high-profile college opening.

“I’m not involved in any college jobs”, said Kelly.

Kelly’s future with the Eagles is still unclear. “Nope. I promise you that”, he said.

“I’ve never been involved in any other jobs since I’ve been here”.

“Same thing”, Kelly said. Meanwhile, Kelly continues to insist he has no plans to leave on his own, but understands the rumors will continue to fly as the season comes to an end. Everybody can just write whatever they want or say whatever they want, and everybody just takes it as the truth. The Eagles have five games remaining, and more blowouts could cause Jeffrey Lurie to take a long, hard look at the direction his football team is heading.

After two 10-6 seasons as head coach of the Eagles, the team is 4-7 with Kelly now in charge of personnel and having remade the roster.

But any conversation about his job status hasn’t affected him. I have great respect for all of those schools. It hasn’t at all, so what is written or what is said, I’ve been totally committed since the day I got here on January 16, 2013 and that hasn’t changed.

Chip Kelly can’t say it enough: he’s not leaving the Eagles.
