Chipotle CEO: Boston Restaurant With Norovirus Will Be ‘Completely Sanitized’
“The Health Services staff remains hopeful that the norovirus will be contained in light of their efforts to inform students of guidelines to avoid spreading the illness”, Dunn said in a statement. Chipotle temporarily closed a restaurant where the students said they ate and says it believes the illnesses are an isolated case of norovirus separate from the E. coli outbreak.

Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold told The Associated Press in an email they are looking into the cause of the violation and will address it.
An E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle has sickened more than 50 people in at least nine states since late October. It is important to point towards the fact that the Boston Public Health Commission said that the initial results of the test conducted by officials showed the presence of norovirus. There were “thousands and thousands of tests” that were run, he said.
William Christopher, the department’s commissioner, said the restaurant’s permit to operate has been suspended by the city and that a disinfection process has begun.
Each year, it causes 19million to 21million illnesses. While the employee’s sickness was not specified, norovirus is a highly contagious disease and is usually spread from person to person. Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting.
The founder of Chipotle, doing damage control after the fast food restaurant has sickened hundreds of diners nationwide, swore Thursday the chain will soon become as “the safest restaurant to eat at it”.
The most recent illness started November 13, according to the CDC.
But the outbreaks have led to a 10% drop in the company’s stock price.
A team of epidemiologists and food safety experts has investigated the delivery, handling, cooking, and serving of all 64 of Chipotle’s ingredients, and developed better food safety standards for the chain going forward. Chipotle has warned that its same-store sales could fall for the first time in company history this quarter.
Shares of Chipotle are down about 30 percent from their all-time high of $758.61 achieved in August.
