Chipotle stores to open later on Monday due to worker meeting
More than 50,000 Chipotle employees attended the mandatory nationwide meeting by way of Twitter and Periscope.
“Money will be used to provide safety support and education that’s necessary to meet our standards”, said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle, while speaking to employees during the training session.
The company rolled out new programs during the meeting, including a bonus initiative that incentivizes store managers to uphold food safety standards.
Now that Chipotle’s E. coli is outbreak officially over, the company is temporarily shuttering all its restaurants in order to keep it that way.
The Denver based company noted a 36-percent drop in sales last month at established locations.
The meeting was called after Chipotle faced numerous food scares, including and E.Coli outbreak in Washington and OR, as well as norovirus cases where many people got sick in the Boston area. The company will then text you back with a coupon to get a free burrito within the next few days.

Chipotle’s shares were down 2.8 percent in afternoon trading on Monday, in line with declines in the broader market.
