‘CHiPs’ star Estrada becomes Idaho reserve police officer
A well-known actor who once played a policeman on a popular television series is now a real life police officer and working as a reserve for the City of St. Anthony.
But neither Estrada’s physical fitness nor his signature motorcycle will likely be needed for his new gig.
Well, in one of the best cases of life imitating art we’ve heard in some time, it seems that Erik, now 67, has gone from playing a police officer on TV – to becoming one in real life. What Estrada witnessed sickened him so much that he chose to form a foundation to help educate and protect children from internet enticement.
Erik Estrada has never really let that dream of protecting and serving go, either, as apparently he’s now an actual police officer in Idaho.
He later updated his followers: ” OK fnf’s I’m now a police officer with the ST ANTHONY POLICE DEPT” along with a picture of himself in uniform posing next to a white Harley-Davidson motorbike. Children should be educated in how to handle a chat room. Certainly don’t ever go meet someone you’ve been chatting with. “If they send a picture, that isn’t them”. “He’s going to be a great part of the team”.
Estrada starred in CHiPs from 1977 to 1983, but was briefly replaced by Caitlyn Jenner in 1981.
People of a certain age might well remember TV series ChiPs – the 70s-era show set among the officers of the California Highway Patrol.
He tweeted: “At LAX flying to Idaho to become a member of the Saint Anthony Police Dept. A special day for me”.
Estrada wanted to become a police officer when he was young, but started acting during high school. I’ve been blessed that way.
