Chittoor city mayor Anuradha shot dead
Summary: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and condemned the murder of party leader and Chittoor Mayor K. Anuradha on Tuesday morning.
Police took the couple who were lying in a pool of blood and moved them to the Chittoor government hospital.
According to reports, the two were inside the Mayor’s chamber at the Chittoor Municipal Corporation when five men in burqas barged in and attacked them with knives and daggers and then shot at the Mayor. Arundhati had recieved severe knife injuries and bullet wonuds to her head and died on the spot.
Municipal officials and TDP leaders rushed the couple to the Chittor General Hospital.
Tension prevailed in Chittoor town following the daylight murder of the mayor Katari Anuradha and grievous attack on her husband Mohan. He was lated shifte to Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore where is condition was stated to be serious. Katari Mohan is the main accused on the attack of Chittoor MLA CK Raju. Anuradha had however won a thumping majority for the party and had become the mayor. Two people have surrendered and other details would be come out in 24 hours. Police suspect this attack to be a case of old rivalry. Police deployed additional forces to prevent any untoward incident.
