CHP, Oakland police investigate huge I-880 sideshow
Gun shots were heard in a few different spots across town over the course of the sideshows; police cited side-sideshows on Alameda Way, Coliseum Way, 54th Avenue and global Boulevard, 106th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, and 90th and Bancroft avenues. After the subject was shot, the officers immediately performed CPR until medical personnel arrived on scene.
Officer Johnna Watson said after the shooting occurred Sunday evening, investigators determined the gun was a replica firearm.
No officers were reported to be injured.
As many as 700 cars were involved in sideshow activity – drivers performing stunts and peeling out in their cars – that shut down numerous intersections and a portion of Interstate 880 early Sunday morning. At about the 15 second mark of the video, you can see several people jumping up and down on top of police cars.
The shooting took place at 5:34 p.m., according to police, in the area of 90th Ave. and Bancroft Ave.
Consistent with Departmental policy, this officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section and Internal Affairs Division.
Oakland police provided no details on the person shot hours later. Police say several officers fired on a man who brandished what turned out to be a replica pistol.
