Chris Coleman: It is a dream come true
MK Dons striker Simon Church made a substitute appearance as Wales qualified for Euro 2016 despite a 2-0 defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Bale has led Wales into their first major finals in 57 years, the 2016 European championship in France.
Subsequently, Wales’ place at a first major worldwide tournament since 1958 was secured.
“If I did part company with Wales, for whatever reason, when am I going to get the chance to work with the type of quality players we have?”
Saturday’s result left Croatia, who have claimed at least a playoff spot, third with 17 points from nine games, two behind Norway, who beat Malta 2-0, and four adrift of leaders Italy, who booked a place at the finals with a 3-1 win in Azerbaijan.
Ramsey has been superb for Wales throughout the qualifying campaign and while Gareth Bale has claimed the goal-scoring glory, Ramsey has been the engine of the team, battling in midfield and keeping Wales driving towards the impossible.
Wales manager Chris Coleman echoed Gareth Bale’s sentiments when he spoke to the media after Wales qualified for the Euro 2016 finals to be held in France next year.
“I’ve wanted this not only as a player and manager but as a fan, as a child growing up”.
“They’ve been highly focused all week on the next job, the next challenge, and that comes against Bosnia”.
“I was down in Cardiff for the draw against Israel last month and I’ve never experienced an atmosphere like it. The fans started singing Gary’s favourite song – I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You – and then chanted his name”.
Bosnia coach Mehmed Bazdarevic was delighted with the result which moved his side into the play-off place in the group, but he praised Wales for their performance.
“It’s an absolute dream”.
“There are so many people I need to thank and we probably haven’t got time for it but it’s been a huge effort from everyone”.
The tie came after a 2-1 victory over Andorra in their opening match and took Chris Coleman’s men top of Group B. The anticipation is hard to miss as the most important game in recent memory will certainly make the small country pause on Saturday.
“We are a nation with a lot of hungry players for success and hopefully we can stay at this level now”.
“I said at the start of the campaign that qualifying would be my proudest moment and it definitely is”.
“We have studied them and we are ready to respond, but we are talking about a very disciplined team and very good individuals”, Bazdarevic said.
