Chris Evans could present Top Gear solo, The Stig set to stay
Back together… former Top Gear trio Richard Hammond (left), Jeremy Clarkson and James May.
With Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May moving on, Evans is now considering how to approach replacing them. Chris Harris later tweeted a photo of the three cars in action at the Algarve Circuit in Spain where the filming was taking place. “I can’t stop staring” – a reference to a picture he posted of a Ferrari on a race track.
Clarkson excited fans on Twitter today (October 7), by marking the first day of filming on his upcoming Amazon Prime series with a group picture of cast and crew.
Reports have suggested the name for the show could be Gear Knobs, but neither Amazon nor Clarkson has commented on the speculation.
Additionally, the timing of Jeremy’s picture posting comes just 24 hours after Chris Evans hinted that there may not be co-hosts with him as he takes the Top Gear reigns.
“Because they were brilliant at it, I’m not going to do that. So, one thing is for sure, there’s not going to be me and one guy there, and one guy there, that’s not going to happen”.
He said: “We’re going to change that”.
Top Gear had an estimated global reach of 350 million, making the 2013 Guinness World Records as the most widely watched factual TV program in the world.
The new show, which has yet to be publicly named, is expected to air next year. They’re the Three Stooges, they are the Bee Gees, they are and I’m not, I’m me.
