Chris Hemsworth shows dramatic weight loss for “In the Heart of Sea”
The Chris Hemsworth that fans are more used to seeing.
Chris showed off the results of his dramatic diet in an Instagram photo, with the caption: “Wouldn’t recommend it…”
During the charity screening of his movie “In the Heart of The Sea” in Australia last week, Chris Hemsworth looked healthier and looked like he was back into shape.
And as the actor told fans as he shared the shocking photograph, the experience of losing so much weight had not been fun.
He wanted to look “scrawny” for the role, as he told Jimmy Kimmel, so dropped his calorie in take to just 500-600 calories a day.
The usually ripped Hemsworth looked like Tom Hanks’ long-lost brother from “Cast Away”, with a bushy beard, dishevelled mane and clearly protruding rib cage.
Howard said: “They had to work out every day, even on shooting days, because they had to lose the weight pretty fast and they had to lose it safely”.
“We kind of went insane, weighing ourselves every day”. His sources of protein included eggs, salmon, chicken, quinoa, cottage cheese, protein shakes, yogurt, and mixed nuts. He did chin-ups, box jumps, pull-ups, and “intense” kettlebell exercises. According to Comic Book Movie, this is when Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok will begin filming.
Hemsworth stars as New England whaling ship Essex veteran first mate Owen Chase in “In the Heart of the Sea”.
