Chris Hemsworth to Return in 4th ‘Star Trek’

Fifty years later, of course, the mission continues, with something of a cult following. Co-writer and co-star Simon (“Scotty”) Pegg has been a devoted Trekker for decades, and his light touch balances camp humor and character friendships with moments of emotional punch here, just as he did in “Shawn of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz”. “It has the cult following”.

While Abrams may have stepped back from directing duties on this third film in the reboot series, Star Trek: Beyond still has the same frenetic but slick energy that pulsed through the first two he helmed.

You can guess where it goes from there: this is, after all, still a summer blockbuster, and the usual things have to happen involving a number of innocent lives being in danger and Our Hero swooping in to fight the villain and save the day.

Just three films into a rebooted retro franchise, “Star Trek Beyond” goes retro, and if that sounds like a snake eating its tail or some other convoluted notion, bear with me. Sulu, a la the script by Pegg and Jung, is apparently gay, something to which Takei has taken exception.

Cho and Takei have met, and Cho said his Sulu predecessor was “gracious as hell”. It will tell the story of how Chris Pine character will meet his own father. “It was anti-nationalist, as is the concept of the show”.

Anton’s death is the second bereavement the Star Trek cast have had to cope with in the last 18 months, as last February (15) Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock in the original TV series and films died aged 83. “I was out of contract, and I had an offer to do another film that I really wanted to do and I had a real kind of conflict over whether I wanted to do this again”.
