Chris Johnson’s reported signing could complicate Cardinals backfield, fantasy
Veteran running back Chris Johnson could land with the Arizona Cardinals before the start of the new NFL season, according to multiple reports.
Johnson ran for a career low 663 yards and one touchdown with the Jets last season.
The Cardinals have been thin at running back for the past couple of weeks.
In a move to improve the dismal ground game in the offseason, Arizona signed free agent left guard Mike Iupati, considered to be one of the best run-blocking guards in the game. But rookie David Johnson, a third-round draft pick out of Northern Iowa, has not practiced since the second day of camp, also because of a hamstring problem.
Ellington, slowed by an injured foot last season, had a 57-yard catch from Carson Palmer early in the Cardinals’ 34-19 loss to Kansas City in their preseason opener on Saturday night. Johnson turns 30 next month and isn’t the player he used to be. It was still said, yeah, both guys [Johnson and Ivory] were going to get playing time.
Chris Johnson’s days of unemployment could be numbered.
Johnson didn’t think about Arians’ comments too much, he told ESPN.
Johnson also has 296 receptions in his seven-year career, so he can be the receiving option Arians likes out of the backfield if Ellington is not on the field.
Ever wanted to see what a raw gunshot wound looks like? The driver was killed. “He made a couple of people miss like he always does”. Arians said the first team will play the entire first quarter Saturday night against San Diego.
