Chris Stapleton Stays on Top of “Billboard” 200
Chris Stapleton is still riding high after his triple CMA Awards wins and memorable performance with Justin Timberlake.
Stapleton’s “Traveller” spent its second consecutive week at No. 1 with 124,000 album units sold in the week ending November 12, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
The Billboard 200 chart tallies units from album sales, song sales (10 songs equal one album) and streaming activity (1,500 streams equal one album).
The Beatles makes a comeback to Billboard 200 with the reissue of their greatest hits collection “The Beatles 1”.
The “Now 56” album falls from No. 4 to No. 7 in its second week with 38,000.
A two-week rein at the top of this chart puts STAPLETON in rare company; only CAPITOL’s LUKE BRYAN (another UMG NASHVILLE artist) achieved similar results in 2015, when “Kill the Lights” was #1 in its first two weeks. This week, the album again moved over 100,000 units. Of course, Adele’s 25 is going to stop Stapleton in his tracks for next week’s chart.
At No. 3 was British singer Goulding’s latest album, “Delirium“, which sold 61,000 units. It’s the best debut for the singer, topping Halcyon’s No. 9 debut in 2012. Tim McGraw ‘s new project, Damn Country Music, debuts at number five.
At No. 4 is The Weeknd’s former No. 1 set “Beauty Behind the Madness“, which rises from last week’s No. 5 with 46,000 units.
