Christian Audigier dies aged 57
His work spread to retail stores in over 40 countries, amassing a net worth of almost $250 million.
Ed Hardy head designer, Christian Audigier, reportedly died Thursday at the age of 57.
MDS, the same cancer that Robin Roberts was diagnosed with in 2012, is a disease that affects the bone marrow and blood.
Michele Elyzabeth, who worked as his publicist for years, confirmed the loss to LATF United States of America, via Daily Mail.
“I just heard the news and I am truly devastated”. However, he recently slipped into a coma at Cedars-Sinai Hospital before passing away, according to LATF.
Audigier’s work with Ed Hardy turned the company into a recognised brand and designer in the early 2000s.
Christian first revealed he had been diagnosed with Cancer in April this year. Audigier underwent chemotherapy prior to receiving a bone marrow transplant in March.
He moved to New York and designed for Guess, Levi’s, Bisou Bisou and other lines before moving to Los Angeles, where he blew up after reviving the Von Dutch line with help from Audigier’s celebrity clients such as Justin Timberlake. “Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed”. Ex- reality star Jon Gosselin also took a liking to Ed Hardy’s flashier designs at the peak of his “fame” (around 2009).
Audigier is survived by his three children, two sons and one daughter, according to Mirror. Audigier sold Ed Hardy to Iconix Brand Group in 2011 for $62 million.
