Christie: Obama Encourages ‘Lawlessness’ By Supporting Black Lives Matter
Toward the end of a public White House discussion about criminal-justice reform, Obama took a moment to push back against detractors who claim that the phrase “Black Lives Matter” – originally coined in reaction to police violence against unarmed African-Americans – discounts the lives of white police officers.
Former Surf City Police Chief Mike Halstead appeared on “Fox & Friends” last week to discuss the incident that led to his retirement. President Barack Obama last week defended the Black Lives Matter movement, noting protests are giving voice to an issue occurring exclusively in African-American communities. “They’ve just this week interrupted a town meeting in Los Angeles… where the mayor couldn’t even speak to the folks, where they stormed in”.
Halstead told Fox & Friends that he has no regrets about the post, which has since been deleted or made private. Christie replied, “Sure they are… they’ve been chanting in the streets for the murder of police officers”. The creator of the shirt, Chuck Garcia, insisted that the slogan had nothing to do with the Black Lives Matter movement and that any resemblance to it was absolutely unintentional. Dead cops. When do we want them? “Now.’ I mean, come on”, he said. “He justifies Black Lives Matter”.
“Our members of Congress have a job to do and what you need to do as president is to bring them together to set the priorities and then to get to know them, to cajole them, to threaten them, to hug them, to do all the things that you need to do to get them to do the things that have to be done”, Christie said. The problem is this, there’s lawlessness in this country, the president encourages this lawlessness, he encourages it.
When asked how Obama encourages this lawlessness, Christie pointed to the president’s support of Black Lives Matter – an activist movement that has been peacefully protesting the death of black men and women at the hands of law enforcement. And just assuming good faith in other people, going to the issue of people being cynical, I think is important. But not only that, he hasn’t backed up police officers from the minute he has gotten into office. I do not judge anyone by the color of their skin, but by there actions.
About 50 protesters from various organizations, including Black Lives Matter, disrupted the meeting. But and a big but that does not make money for these greedy media ass holes. Yet you see murders up 19% in Chicago and up 11% in New York and the murder of police officer. When a white person is killed by a black officer you hear nothing. “The president encourages this lawlessness”, Christie said on CBS’s Face the Nation. I’m outraged that you would say that. He also emphasized that the “overwhelming majority of law enforcement is doing the right thing and wants to do the right thing”. Imagine if all law enforcement shut down for just 1 day.
