Christie ‘relieved’ Trump picked a governor
“Periods for Pence” is now taking aim at Donald Trump.
Speaking at a breakfast for the MI delegation to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, the New Jersey Republican subtly jabbed his fellow vice presidential hopeful, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
At one point, Trump even seemed to suggest that he “didn’t need” Pence to win over Evangelical voters.
Trump also offered new details about why he selected Pence as his running mate.
“He’s really got the skills of a highly talented executive, leading the state of IN to jobs, growth and opportunity”, said Mr Trump.
“All I know is that Donald called me and told me he was going with Gov. Pence, and I told him OK and I was looking forward to doing the transition, and we had a great conversation”, Christie said. “Don’t care.” What? “He’s entitled to a mistake”.
Trump then gave Pence permission to answer yes.
CBS’s Lesley Stahl asked Trump about this in a joint interview with Pence broadcast Sunday night, and he minimized the importance of Pence’s past stand.
“I was gonna vote for Trump if he picked a more moderate VP”, Shahid wrote on Facebook following the Trump-Pence collaboration. But he said Republicans should not miss the opportunity that Clinton’s email issues provide in the election, calling her “the most flawed nominee for their party in my lifetime”.
Stahl also questioned the pair over their differences when it comes to negative campaigning, waterboarding and free trade.
But Pence insisted that the two were a united front, saying he supported Trump’s policy of temporarily banning Muslims from the US. “But I promise you, our vision is exactly the same”, he said.
The Facebook group sprung up after Gov. Mike Pence signed a controversial abortion bill into law last April.
You can’t make it up. TRUMP: I love what he just said.
