Christmas Around Town, Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting set for Saturday
Two lost reindeer looking for the North Pole.
Visible for miles around, the enormous “tree” is actually a frame constructed of over 1,800 lights and placed on top of the city’s water tower.
Sherri Mosley, executive director of the Downtown Kingsport Association, said this year will offer some brand new events along with traditional ones.
Washington got a little brighter on Thursday night with the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.
“Many years later, the smart people at Metro Parks, who know a good Christmas tree when they see one, started asking Elsie Brown if she would donate it”, Barry said.
Entertainment during the event will be provided by various local groups that will be performing.
Will “Flip the Switch” and the Tree will Light Up!
The Brick Church is also holding a social hour before the lighting with hot cocoa, cookies and holiday crafts at 5 p.m. RSVP is requested.
The parade will feature marching bands, clowns, fire trucks and antique cars, horses, the Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps, floats and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa Claus will be available every Thursday before Christmas during the Farmers’ Market for photographs and for kids to share their Holiday Wish Lists.
Both the tree lighting and A Huntersville Christmas are free to attend.
