Christopher Guest’s ‘Mascots’ to Premiere on Netflix
And from here, it looks like the company’s push into film distribution will be similarly successful. Now Christopher Guest is the latest filmmaker to jump over to the world of streaming and he’s got a new movie coming in 2016.
Christopher Guest is teaming up with Netflix for his next movie. This Is Spinal Tap, Best In Show, and A Mighty Wind, among others – are some of the very best of the genre.
Premiering in 2016, “Mascots” is about the men and women competing in the 8th World Mascot Association Championships to win the “prestigious” Gold Fluffy Award.
Guest often writes with Eugene Levy and has used the same actors, including Catherine O’Hara, Michael McKean, Parker Posey, Jane Lynch and John Michael Higgins, in several films.
Unfortunately, all we know about Mascots is from that poster.
This continues Netflix hiring brand-name talent to fill their original programming.
First Adam Sandler, then Brad Pitt and now … Beasts of No Nation gets an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run starting on the same day it hits Netflix, while Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II is aiming for a day-and-date IMAX release.
