Chrono Trigger just got a surprise release on Steam
“The biggest slap in the face though, a big ‘Menu” button that appears at all times in the top right of the screen whilst you’re playing.
Thanks to the PC release, the Android and iOS versions are getting a big update. Do fans want to see the older version that’s not as refined? Also, the bonuses dungeons from the Nintendo DS and mobile versions, Dimensional Vortex and Lost Sanctum, are both present.
In 2008, Square Enix released the definitive edition of the game on Nintendo DS.
It didn’t take long for the Chrono Trigger Steam page to be full of negative reviews. Chrono Trigger is coveted as one of the best video games ever made and was followed by its sequel Chrono Cross. The game was originally developed by the creators of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Yuji Horii, alongside Akira Toriyama.

This version is only available for Windows PCs; it requires an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, an Intel HD Graphics 530, and 2GB of available space. Unfortunately, players with more modern needs such as the ability to change the graphics settings to their liking probably won’t be too thrilled with this version. The updates are available for free to users that now own the game on either compatible iOS or Android devices. The Chrono Trigger Limited Edition is only available until April 2.
Chrono Trigger is still a critically acclaimed favorite, which is probably why fans have expressed disappointment and outrage with the PC version that arrived on Steam.
What’s kind of amusing is that PC people are complaining that this is the mobile version just ported to PC, as the touch controls are available.
