Church will offer Christmas Cantata
The free event is staged outdoors and begins with a pre-show event at 5:15 p.m. nightly. Thursdays for publication the next Saturday.
Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 Cherokee Dr., will have its Christmas program, titled “Jesus”, on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. Clifton D. Jackson, Sr., is pastor. Missionaries should wear white. Choirs from other churches invited to participate.
Living Faith Lutheran Church, 1206 Montgomery Ave., Boyertown, will hold a gathering to sing Christmas carols and hear about the angel candle on the Advent wreath Thursday at 7 p.m.
Holy Communion service, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown. Sunday school starts at 9:30, and worship begins at 10:30. Christmas dinner will follow.
-Clubs for Kids: AWANA Clubs for children age 3 through 6th grade meet 6-7:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the multi-denominational Christmas program, “God Among Us”, at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave., Burley.

Lazarus United Church of Christ, with services held at Lineboro Fire Dept., 4221 Main St., Lineboro, will hold a a Candlelight Service on Sunday, Dec. 17. The service will close in candlelight and singing. This special service is open to the public.
WINTERSVILLE – Santa Claus will be on hand at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 148 Stephens St., Wintersville, at 6 p.m. Sunday. Food furnished by the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and donations. The dinner is also handicap accessible. There will be a “birthday party for Jesus” on Sunday evening beginning with a special program at 5 p.m. A minister will return your call.
Christmas Program, 4 p.m., Staunton Baptist Church, Long Island. Music prelude at 9:30 p.m. with 10 p.m. Wednesday night Bible study is at 6.
RECONCILIATION SERVICE: Blessed Sacrament Parish will hold a communal Advent reconciliation service at 3 p.m. Sunday. According to Senior Warden Leila Haddad, “Our Christmas Eve service is a gift to the community of Lake County”. Friendship Baptist Church is at 1391 Sykesville Road in Sykesville. The service will include opening rite, liturgy of the word, examination of conscience, individual confession and absolution. Bible study will be 6-7 p.m.
A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be combined with the regular 11 a.m. service on December 24.
Laurinburg First Baptist Church children and youth drama team will present the play, “I Didn’t Think it Would Happen Like This” during the 11 a.m. service.
Advent marks the first season of the traditional Christian church year. A free will offering will be taken and given to Taneytown Caring and Sharing Ministries.
