Cincinnati sisters recovering after being stabbed in Louisvile
A suspect is facing charges after two women – reportedly a bride-to-be and her sister celebrating a bachelorette weekend – were stabbed in the chest early Sunday in downtown Louisville.
Sherrie Snader’s father told WHAS he wasn’t sure if his daughter’s wedding – set for August. 29 – would go on as scheduled.
According to police, when the women were returning to their hotel at the Econo Lodge when they were approached by an unidentified black male.
Sherrie’s fiancé, James, has visited her in the Lousiville hospital every day since the attack.
Their alleged attacker – Kalief Cummings – pleaded not guilty to assault in court Tuesday.
Police identified Cummings using a description from the two victims, as well as surveillance video of the area from a city MetroWatch camera.
Their father, Richard Snader, says Fort Knox soldiers helped the women, applying pressure to the wounds and performing CPR.
Both women are still in the hospital with stab wounds and punctured lungs. “It’s dismay. Even if you’re going to rob somebody, why do you have to stab them?”
That’s when police say the two were assaulted.
According to WDRB, both Melissa and Sherrie Snader are still in pain, but their spirits have not been completely crushed by the unexpected stabbing, which could be a good sign that the wedding may carry on as planned. The wedding may have to be rescheduled.
