Cindy Crawford Creating Series on Eighties’ Model Wars
But before anyone starts dream-casting the major models of the era, let it be known that Icon would be a completely fictional take on that troublesome time, and no real companies or models names will be used in the show.
Supermodel Cindy Crawford is producing a television series inspired by the wars between top modeling agencies in the 1980s, the USA magazine Variety reported.
Anne Heche and James Tupper originally brought the project to Crawford and will serve as exec producers.
The CAA-repped Crawford achieved worldwide superstardom in the ’80s and ’90s – the heyday of supermodels – when Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christie Brinkley, Brooke Shields, Elle Macpherson and Christy Turlington, among others, rose to fame.
“The Hunger Games” producer Robin Bissell will pen the project, hailing from Universal TV.
It’s been a busy year for Crawford, with appearances on Cougar Town… “We had a scene together, and I kept saying to the director, ‘Please, remember I’m not an actress!’ She’s just amusing, she can do these mad things with her face, and I just realised after the shoot I just don’t enjoy it. I’m very comfortable being myself in front of the camera – but not trying to be someone else”.
Crawford has some television experience.
She also made waves in the industry when she appeared in 1995 hit Fair Game, starring opposite the likes of Salma Hayek and William Baldwin. Why or why not?
