Citronelle murder: Suspect’s ex-girlfriend lived at Alabama home where 5 slain
He also said the suspect, Derrick Dearman, is in his 20s and that he has an outstanding burglary warrant in Mobile County, Alabama.
A four-month-old infant was found alive amidst the grisly murder scene in the city of Citronelle, located some 30 miles northwest of Mobile. Dearman and his father went to Green County Sheriff’s Office to turn himself in.
Later that night, Burch said, Dearman returned to the house and attacked the occupants while they were sleeping, using multiple weapons, including guns.
Investigators have not said how the victims were killed, but they said it appears multiple methods were used.
Five people were found dead inside an Alabama home Saturday, police said.
Burch said Dearman will be charged with six counts of capital murder – one count for each adult and a sixth count because one of the women killed was pregnant. When they got there, authorities said Dearman let Lester and the child go.

A Sunday morning press conference revealed Dearman having broking into a house in Citronelle, Alabama where his 24 year old ex girlfriend, Laneta Lester, was staying to escape their ‘abusive relationship’.
In custody is Derrick Dearman, who turned himself in to authorities across the state line, in Greene County, Mississippi, Burch said.
A few hours later, Derrick Ryan Dearman, 27, turned himself in at a police station in his home state of MS, authorities said.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims in Saturday’s quintuple murder in Citronelle.
She said: “I have never seen a scene where there were 5 people that were brutally and viciously murdered, and that’s what we have here”. “Given the way the scene looks, we’re going to be here a couple of days”, a Sheriff’s Office rep said.
Neighbors told CNN affiliate WALA that a brother, a sister and their families lived at the home. Police told NBC an ax was possibly used.
The victims’ names have not been released pending notifications of next-of-kin.
