Civil suit against Junior Galette dismissed
Galette had filed a motion seeking to dismiss the case, arguing the lawsuit was not detailed enough to permit him to mount a meaningful defense.
Following the dismissal of the suit, Galette’s attorney, Ralph Whalen released a statement that reads, “From day one, we have been confident this suit would be swiftly dismissed”.
The suit was dismissed when the complainant did not show for a court hearing. Galette allegedly injured the woman while trying to remove her from his house. She had previously “accused Galette and his cousin of injuring her in a January incident that led to an arrest for domestic violence”, though that case was also dismissed following an investigation.
The New Orleans Advocate does not name people who say they are victims of sexual abuse. And her attorney withdrew from the case in March, saying his client had been “uncooperative and inaccessible”, though he said her case had merit. The suit came only after we rejected her former lawyer’s offer to pay her millions of dollars in exchange for not filing this baseless suit.
The woman was served with papers requiring her to either hire another attorney or appear in court to pursue the case, and she never did so.
Galette spent five seasons with the Saints before the team cut him last month.
Galette, 27, was launched by the final month after a sample of off-the-field points, together with some conflicts inside the locker room and the emergence of a 2013 video that confirmed a person who seemed to be Galette hitting a lady with a belt throughout a brawl that concerned a number of individuals.
Galette was supposed to meet with NFL officials at the end of June.
Even so, coach Jay Gruden said at the time, a lengthy meeting with himself, Galette, general manager Scot McCloughan and team president Bruce Allen ended with the Redskins signing him in the hopes he can help beef up their pass rush.
