Claire Danes Discusses Controversial Billy Crudup Scandal
As far as her acting career is concerned, Claire Danes has not appeared on the big screen for a couple of years now, as she continues to focus all her efforts on her television work.
In 2003, Crudup left his girlfriend of eight years, Parker while she was seven months pregnant to pursue a romance with Danes, whom he met on the set of their film, Stage Beauty.
The 36-year-old actress adores her “very British” spouse Hugh Dancy – with whom she has two-year-old son Cyrus – but finds his “indirect” way of speaking can be very frustrating.
“I was just in love with him”, Danes recalls about the 47-year-old actor.
While the “My So-Called Life” star did admit she was careless at the time, she’s moved past it all.
“But it’s okay, I went through it”, she said, before adding that they are still on good terms. “It’s unpleasant to be cast in such an unflattering role [in the tabloids], but I just had to remain steadfast…I was living with the same kind of integrity that I had always lived with”. Sometimes his politeness is too much for me. It’s nice not to be ridiculed – nobody wants that – but it’s also unavoidable.
“We’re friendly – we’re friends”, she added about her current relationship with Crudup.
However, that could all change when she releases her upcoming memoir, Dear Mr. You.
Meanwhile, the season five premiere of Homeland premiered on Sunday that propels Carrie Mathison two years forward after leaving the Central Intelligence Agency.
Stern first asked Danes, now 36, whether the judgment from the public at the time was a terrifying experience.
