Those who gathered at the memorial are hoping to keep the victims’ memories alive by educating the younger generation.
The survivors are not only surrounded by their loved ones, but also the 300 person crew of the USS Pearl Harbor.

As the sun rose over Pearl Harbor, two veteran pilots poured whiskey into the watery grave where the USS Arizona had stood on the morning of December 7, 1941.
After the event, veterans and their families enjoyed barbecue from Salty’s Barbecue and caught up and shared stories of their time in the service.
In Hawaii, the USS Arizona Memorial commemorates the attack, and the Battleship Missouri symbolizes the end of WWII. “We’ve remained vigilant. And today’s armed forces are ready to answer the alarm bell”, said Harris, who leads the U.S. Pacific Command.
“I’m here today in his honor”, he said.
“I remember Pearl Harbor because I was in a theater in Alexandria, Louisiana”.
The U.S. Navy and National Park Service hosted a ceremony in remembrance of those killed on December 7, 1941.
“You realized what had happened and you knew that your shipmates were still there and are still there”, said Marquardt.
Officials called it a dry-run for next year’s 75th anniversary, when thousands more are expected to attend.
